VRDye™ 490 Donkey anti-Goat IgG Secondary Antibody

Applications

VRDye 490 Secondary Antibodies can be used for a variety of applications, including Western blotting. Visit the LI-COR® website (licorbio.com) for more information.

VRDye 490 Donkey anti-Goat IgG (H+L) (P/N 926-49014) is suitable for multiplex labeling experiments when combined with other secondary antibodies labeled with proper fluorescent dyes and when using instrumentation with appropriate excitation and detection capabilities. For example, two- or three-color detection can be achieved by multiplexing VRDye 490 Secondary Antibodies with IRDye® 680RD or IRDye 680LT and IRDye 800CW secondary antibodies for detection on the Odyssey M Imager or Odyssey F Imager.

Specifications

  • Quantity: 0.5 mg, lyophilized

  • Antibody Concentration: 1.0 mg/mL when reconstituted as directed

  • Fluorophore: VRDye 490 (1011 g/mole)

  • Excitation Wavelength: 492 nm (in PBS)

  • Emission Wavelength: 522 nm (in PBS)

  • Immunogen: Goat IgG, whole molecule

  • Form of Antibody: VRDye 490 conjugated purified immunoglobulin, lyophilized in phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4. Contains 10 mg/mL Bovine serum albumin (BSA) (IgG and protease free) as stabilizer and 0.01% sodium azide as preservative after reconstitution.

    Contains sodium azide.

The BSA used as a stabilizer for this product is free of IgG. However, blockers and antibody diluents made with BSA and dry milk may contain IgG that reacts with anti-bovine IgG, anti-goat IgG, anti-horse IgG, and anti-sheep IgG antibodies. This can lead to a significant increase in background and/or reduction of secondary antibody titer for protein detection applications.

When ready for use, prepare a 1.0 mg/mL stock solution by reconstituting contents of vial with 0.5 mL sterile distilled water. Mix gently by inverting. Allow to rehydrate for at least 30 minutes before use. Centrifuge product if solution is not completely transparent after standing at room temperature. Immediately dilute stock solution as recommended for each specific application prior to use. Do not re-use product.

Purity and Specificity

The antibody was isolated from antisera by immunoaffinity chromatography using antigens coupled to agarose beads. Based on ELISA, this antibody reacts with heavy and light chains of goat IgG and sheep IgG. This antibody was tested by dot blot and/or solid phase adsorbed for minimal cross-reactivity with human, mouse, rabbit, rat, chicken, guinea pig, hamster, swine, and horse serum proteins but may cross-react with immunoglobulins from other species. The conjugate has been specifically tested and qualified for Western blot applications.
